1) Turn on the player by
pressing PLAY/PAUSE.
2) The player will go through
its "sort" procedure, reading the file table. Wait until it starts
playing track 1.
3) Press PLAY/MODE button
4 times to put it into DIR mode. Note that you will pass through
"RAND" mode, making it start playing a random track.
4) Press REC/DIR/FILE once
or twice until the display says "dir" (just once assuming you've
just turned on the player). You don't need to hold this button
down.
5) Press the PREVIEW button.
The display will say "XX UP" where XX is the current directory
number. Then, it will go back to the track/time display it had
before, but the minute part of the time display will be blinking.
6) The minute section of
the time display shows the directory number. Press PREVIEW to
decrease the number and NEXT to increase it.
7) After you get to the directory
you want, stop pressing any buttons until the directory number
starts blinking. Then press *and hold* the NEXT button.
8) The display will say "XX
doun" where XX is the directory number and start playing the first
track in that directory. A couple of notes: * After all the files
in that directory are played, the player will turn off. You don't
*need* to use directory mode if you have CDs with directories
on them. The files on the disc are numbered sequentially, regardless
of what directory they're in. Example: Let's say you have a CD
with 3 directorys, each with 10 songs. If you are on song 2 of
directory 3, that's the same as track 22 (which is what the MPTrip
will show). You can get to that song by going into directory mode
OR just pressing NEXT 21 times assuming you're on track 1. * For
PCs: In a DOS window, do: tree X:\ /f > list.txt *or* dir X:\
/s/b > list.txt where X is your CD-ROM's drive number. This creates
a file called list.txt that gives you the songs in the order the
DiscoTrip will play them.
